The AION 2 classes tier list below ranks all eight global classes for PvE and PvP. Gladiator is the best all-rounder, Assassin is the best 1v1 duelist, and Templar and Cleric are the safest picks for dungeon groups. I compared five guides published between September 21 and October 16, then settled the splits myself.
| Class | Role | PvE | PvP | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gladiator | Melee/Off-Tank | S | S | Easy |
| Ranger | Ranged DPS | S | A | Easy |
| Templar | Main Tank | S | B | Medium |
| Cleric | Main Healer | S | B | Medium |
| Chanter | Hybrid Support/DPS | A | B | Hard |
| Sorcerer | Magic DPS | A | A | Medium |
| Assassin | Melee Burst DPS | A | S | Hard |
| Spiritmaster | Summoner DPS | B | A | Medium |
How I Ranked the Classes?
I weighed damage, survivability, group demand, mobility, difficulty and ping tolerance. The meta is barely two weeks old, since global launch was October 5, so treat this as a snapshot.
- S: the best picks, with very few weaknesses in that content.
- A: strong and reliable, but they depend more on gear, group or skill.
- B: situational, or demanding to play well.
One caution: ExitLag’s list covers the Asia version, with Elementalist and Brawler. Global has only eight classes, so I used it for context, not placements.
AION 2 PvE Tier List
| Class | Tier | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Gladiator | S | Strong AoE, real durability, easy rotation, can off-tank known content |
| Ranger | S | Best uptime because it never chases the boss, and the best open-world farmer |
| Templar | S | The only true main tank, with the highest threat |
| Cleric | S | The only dedicated healer, with combat resurrection and the fastest invites |
| Chanter | A | Melee DPS plus party buffs, but a high skill ceiling |
| Sorcerer | A | Huge burst, but loses damage when bosses force movement |
| Assassin | A | Top burst, but the lowest margin for error |
| Spiritmaster | B | Passive DoT damage, but heavily rotation-dependent |
Gladiator is the easiest recommendation for a first character. It stays relevant through endgame, and its main weakness is melee uptime on movement-heavy bosses.
Cleric has the lowest damage of all eight, but a skilled one with modest gear gets picked over overgeared DPS in most group searches. If you never want to wait for a dungeon, this is the safest pick.
Chanter is where the guides split. TechWiser’s damage meters have it first (S), while other guides rate it A or B because its buffs shine mostly in organized parties. I placed it in A. Its party buff gives +10.5% PvE damage and damage tolerance, the same as Cleric’s. That buff doesn’t stack, so groups rarely bring both.
Sorcerer shines in long fights where it can plant and cast Hellfire, and it’s the best option for high-ping damage dealers.
Assassin is expected to get a buff, which makes it a good long-term pick if you can handle the difficulty.
Spiritmaster is the most disputed class. One guide has it S, others B. I kept it in B because high-end representation is lower, but the passive summon damage makes it friendly to high ping.
Best PvE Group Composition
For new, tough 5-player content, MeinMMO recommends Templar, Cleric and three damage dealers from Assassin, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster and Ranger. For farm content you already know, swap in Gladiator as tank and Chanter as healer for speed. Note that MeinMMO uses the names Wizard, Summoner and Cantor for Sorcerer, Spiritmaster and Chanter.
AION 2 PvP Tier List
| Tier | Class | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Assassin | Best 1v1 class: stealth openers, massive back-attack burst |
| S | Gladiator | Wins through lifesteal, gap closers and durability, and is hard to kite |
| A | Ranger | Safe range and kiting, and wins through steady pressure |
| A | Sorcerer | Hard-hitting ranged damage, but easy for melee to dive |
| A | Spiritmaster | Fear CC locks opponents out of their rotation, and DoTs tick while it kites |
| B | Templar | Nearly impossible to burst down, and the grapple helps in sieges, but low kill pressure |
| B | Chanter | Flexible and never useless, but pure damage classes win 1v1 |
| B | Cleric | Best sustain, but struggles to kill anything |
Ping matters here. Above 100ms, Assassin’s combo timing falls apart, so check your connection before committing. Gladiator, Sorcerer and Spiritmaster are far more forgiving.
Cleric and Templar look weak in the solo ranking but jump in value in large Abyss sieges, where cleansing, healing and grapples decide fights. Don’t write them off for group PvP.
Best AION 2 Class by Goal
- Beginners: Gladiator or Ranger
- Never waiting for a group: Cleric
- Solo PvP: Assassin on low ping, otherwise Gladiator
- High ping: Sorcerer, Spiritmaster or Gladiator
- Group PvP and sieges: Templar, Chanter and Cleric
Will the AION 2 Classes Tier List Change?
Almost certainly. Chanter’s damage is high for a hybrid support, so a nerf wouldn’t surprise me, and Assassin’s burst feels low enough to justify a buff. Gear and class knowledge will matter more than any tier label, so pick the class you’ll enjoy grinding for hundreds of hours.
