To get Dutchman’s Rod in Fisch, complete the Dutchman’s Blessing Ritual at the Cemetery on Caustic Hallow. You start it with the Frankenstein NPC for 100 Treats. You need one finished Boglin Ritual, Hex Stage 2, three awakened Skeletal Hands, five mutated fish, Dutchman’s Grasp and a Coffin fish. You also need Grim, Vile and Doomed Skulls. I cross-checked Roonby, Pro Game Guides and The Click, all published October 17–18, plus the official Fisch wiki.

What You Need Before Starting?
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Boglin Ritual | Complete one |
| Hex Stage | Stage 2 |
| Skeletal Hands | 3 awakened |
| Fish (Lanterns) | 5 mutated fish and a Coffin (see below) |
| Item | Dutchman’s Grasp |
| Skulls (Hands) | Grim Skull, Vile Skull, Doomed Skull |
Some guides write “Hex Stage 3”, but Pro Game Guides and Roonby’s own ritual page both list 2 Hex Stages, so I went with Stage 2.
Fish and Mutations You Need
Fish go into the Jack-o’-Lanterns around the circle. The mutation matters: the right fish with the wrong mutation won’t count.
| Fish | Required Mutation |
|---|---|
| Jagged Bone | Doomed |
| Poltergeist Perch | Vile |
| Skeleton Sturgeon | Grim |
| Mummy Mackerel | Boglin (not Shiny or Sparkling) |
| Corpse Cod | Eldritch |
| Coffin | None listed |
Check each fish’s name and mutation before you start. Don’t sell mutated catches, since Jack-o-Moon and Omniscient need them too.
Step-by-Step: How to Get Dutchman’s Rod?
- Get to Caustic Hallow. The Dutchman Captain on the east side of Moosewood sails you there.
- Awaken three Skeletal Hands using the items in the table below.
- Clear the earlier rituals in order. The chain runs Hexed, Scary Relic, Haunted, Jack-o-Moon, Boglin, then Dutchman’s Blessing. Each one needs the one before it.
- Catch the five mutated fish and the Coffin.
- Collect the Grim, Vile and Doomed Skulls. Frightful Pools during Jack-o-Moon weather give them. The Scarecrow’s Maze vault also holds a Doomed Skull, with 1,000 Treats.
- Buy Dutchman’s Grasp from the Dutchman Merchant for 25,000 Treats.
- Reach Hex Stage 2.
- Pay Frankenstein 100 Treats at the Cemetery (about -15104, 146, -9621) and choose Dutchman’s Blessing.
- Fill the ritual before the timer ends. Put the fish, Coffin and Grasp into the Jack-o’-Lanterns and the three skulls into the Skeletal Hands.
Other players on your server can drop items into the circle, so a friend can cover a missing piece.
How to Awaken the Skeletal Hands?
Three hands need to be awake. Here’s how to get each ritual item:
| Hand | Item | How to Get It |
|---|---|---|
| Azael’s Grasp | Davy’s Rose | Buy from the Dutchman Merchant for 5,000 Treats |
| Xylar’s Grasp | Ethereal Rose | Ghost mini-game in the Doomsekkar Rod quest |
| Korvath Grasp | Fable Rose | Dullahan Mansion quests |
| Malakor’s Grasp | Gourdemort’s Rose | Pumpkin Pete’s quest at Caustic Hallow |
| Kaelith’s Grasp | Dark Art Skull | Goblin’s Quest on Hard |
My pick for the three shortest routes is Davy’s Rose, Ethereal Rose and Gourdemort’s Rose. The Mansion has six resident questlines, and the Hard goblin quest is, well, hard. That’s my own reading and the guides don’t rank them.
How Many Treats Do You Need?
Plan for at least 30,600 Treats:
- 25,000 for Dutchman’s Grasp
- 5,000 for Davy’s Rose (if you choose it)
- 600 for six ritual attempts at 100 each (Hexed through Dutchman’s Blessing)
Any failed attempt costs another 100. Dutchman’s Grasp has a stock of 1, so only walk into the final ritual once everything else is ready. One guide mentions a free FischFright2026 code for starter Treats, but I couldn’t verify it.
Dutchman’s Rod Stats
Roonby is the only guide I found that lists these, so double-check them in game.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | 100% |
| Luck | 180% |
| Control | 0.1 |
| Resilience | 10% |
| Max KG | Infinite |
The unlimited Max KG means weight never stops you, but the low control and 10% resilience make the minigame harder. This rod is a trophy first and a daily driver second.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Wrong mutation. Mummy Mackerel needs Boglin, and it can’t be Shiny or Sparkling.
- Skipping the order. You can’t start Dutchman’s Blessing without a finished Boglin Ritual.
- Selling mutated fish. Later rituals reuse them.
- Forgetting the Coffin. It’s the easiest requirement to overlook, since it has no mutation.
- Starting before you’re ready. The timer is running and missing items waste Treats.
