Phantom Blade Zero has 32 character skills for Soul across four passive trees: Blackstone (offense), Sha-Chi Amber (energy), Memory Flower (survival), and Banyan’s Heart (late-game). All are passive — there’s no XP — and you unlock them with Remnant Dust plus collectibles at any Bell. Since the 2026-10-29 PS5 and PC launch, the question is what to learn first: below is every skill’s cost, then the best order for your first 30,000 Remnant Dust.

How to Unlock Skills in Phantom Blade Zero?

Open Train Abilities at any Bell. Materials drop as fragments from guarded chests; each completed one grants a permanent stat boost. Nodes unlock left to right — no skipping — and each skill costs Remnant Dust. Enemies don’t respawn, so Dust is finite per playthrough. You can reset everything at any Bell for a full refund.

Banyan’s Heart Skills (Late Game)

Inanis’s Heart of the Banyan quest opens these. Hearts come from Banyan Tree trials (eight per playthrough) or Quick Hand Zhang (100,000 Dust each). Offense chain totals 157,500 Dust; defense 220,000.

Offense: Flow Like Water (1 Heart + 12,500) — blocking/dodging never break your combo. Opening Strike (35,000) — weapon swap becomes a special attack. Flash Step (45,000) — Sha-Chi-fueled instant dodge. Boundless Capacity Lv.3 (65,000) — +1 accessory slot.

Defense: Still Mind (25,000) — brief invincibility on Power Surge. Quick Remedy (45,000) — healing can’t be interrupted. Cicada’s Escape (65,000) — auto-retreat with immunity on Guard Break. Against All Odds (85,000) — once per battle, blocks a fatal drop below 10% HP.

Cycle skills add 5 ranks per playthrough, maxing at 30 by NG+6.

Best Skills to Unlock First

My order: Fluid Form (free), Healing Art and Steady Composure (5,000 each), Boundless Capacity Lv.1 and Thousand-Mile Stride (10,000 each) — 30,000 Dust before your first major boss. Then grab Flowing Chi (free), saving toward Redirect Force and Unyielding Will (40,000 each). Pair them with our weapons guide and Phantom Edges list.
