There are 25 Phantom Edges in Phantom Blade Zero — Soul’s secondary weapons that hit hard, break guards, summon allies, and unlock parts of the map your main blade can’t reach. I’ve listed every one of them below with exact stats, the boss or quest that drops each, and the missables you should grab before moving on. Most drop from story bosses, but a handful hide behind optional fights, side quests, and a secret region you can only open late in the game. Here’s the complete list, updated for November 2026.

What Are Phantom Edges in Phantom Blade Zero?

Phantom Edges are secondary weapons that sit in their own equipment slot next to your two main weapons. You can carry two at a time and switch between them freely, but every activation burns Remnant Sparks, so timing matters more than spamming. They’re also the game’s exploration key: the Dread Axe snaps iron chains, the Hunter’s Chain Sickle grapples to high ledges, the Flaming Mane burns through vines, and the Tiger Cannon blasts sealed walls. I’d revisit old areas every time you pick up a new one. Each Edge belongs to one of five types:

TypeCombat RoleExploration Use
RangedAttacks from a distanceShoot distant targets to drop loot
DestructiveHeavy guard-breaking damageBreak chains, floors and walls
MartialCombo-based melee techniquesGrapple to distant anchor points
ArtificeGadgets with unique effectsBurn vines, douse flames, grab dials
SummoningCalls allies to fight for youNone

Missable Phantom Edges and Progression Gates

The game shows a Phantom Edge counter per region, so check it before moving on. Four are painfully easy to miss: the Kuye Temple Prayer Beads (talk to the injured NPC by the locked door near the Smuggler’s Tunnel Entrance first), the Puppeteer’s Bell (collect every Firefly Memory Flower in the Village of Lu to reveal the hidden pit), the Iron Gauntlets (Stone Hand Iron Fever hides south of the Mirrowood Entrance Bell), and the Swordsman’s Summon (look for the burning towers in Mandate Encampment).

Unlocks also chain together. Keep the Dread Axe even if you never swing it — it opens the gate hiding Wan Jun. The Hunter’s Chain Sickle grants your first grapple, the Flaming Mane clears thick vines, and the Illusory Pipa dispels mist barriers: play it at Meigu Lake’s northeastern mists to reach the Mountain of Imprisonment, home to three of the game’s best Edges. The Tiger Cannon then breaks the final sealed walls in Mirage Estate.

How to Upgrade and Soul Temper Phantom Edges?

Upgrading is forgiving. You can level any Phantom Edge with materials and refund everything free of charge up to level 10 — after that, reverting costs a Phantom Reforge Talisman, so don’t hoard resources. The real commitment is Soul Tempering. Around Chapter 4 in Pangzhen you’ll meet Myst at her tavern, and she can temper an Edge using a weapon-specific material plus Remnant Dust, granting a unique passive like the Dread Axe’s Rapid Charge or the Feather Bow’s Precision Shot. Unlike normal upgrades, Soul Tempering is irreversible — and some weapons, like the Heartrend Pipa, transform into entirely new forms. Only temper Edges you’ve actually tested.

Pro Tips for Using Phantom Edges

  • Pair one damage Edge with one utility Edge — I run the Thunder Spear alongside the Hunter’s Chain Sickle so exploration never costs me a menu trip.
  • Thunder Spear owns the highest raw damage (450); Ink Cut is my best all-rounder pick at 400 damage with a monstrous 324 Guard Break.
  • Summons are pricey: the Prayer Beads, Puppeteer’s Bell, Swordsman’s Summon, and Inanis’ Radiant Fan all burn 2 Remnant Sparks per cast.
  • Feather Bow and Goldblaze deal bonus damage to full-HP enemies — open fights with them, then swap.
  • If you enjoy comparing weapon metas, my Legacy Piece Tier List does the same for Legacy Piece.

FAQs

How many Phantom Edges are in Phantom Blade Zero?

There are 25 Phantom Edges, spread across seven regions from Weeping Creek Valley to the hidden Mountain of Imprisonment.

Can you miss Phantom Edges in Phantom Blade Zero?

Yes. Several are tied to optional bosses or side quests, and the Puppeteer’s Bell stays locked until you collect every Memory Flower in the Village of Lu. The per-region tracker shows what’s left.

What is the hardest Phantom Edge to get?

The Illusory Pipa. You must defeat Dusk, Yubi, and Yan Qiansui across three different regions so Myst can repair it — and you’ll need it to unlock the Mountain of Imprisonment anyway.

What are the best Phantom Edges in Phantom Blade Zero?

Thunder Spear for raw damage, Ink Cut for damage plus the best Guard Break in the game, and a utility pick like the Hunter’s Chain Sickle for exploration.
