How to Spot Each Vault?

Almost every vault sits behind a breakable sheet wall, and a red flag marks the spot. The ship is the exception. Two vaults need extra effort: Loot Lagoon’s is inside a secret area behind the waterfall, and Loguetown’s only appears down in the aqueduct. Arlong Park and The Chest don’t have vaults. The ninth vault sits south of Busy Bay, which is why some guides list it under Plunder Port.

How to Get a Vault Key?

Vault Keys are rare, and nothing guarantees one in any match. These are your best sources:

Chests: Keys drop at random from regular chests. Land at a chest-heavy spot like Busy Bay or Rubber Resort and loot fast.
Eliminations: Defeat a player carrying a key and take it.
Sweet Dreams Sprite: Leveling it up can reward a key.

How to Open a Vault?

Pick up a key. Your map and mini-map instantly mark the nearest unopened vault.
Head to any unopened vault. You aren’t locked to the marked one, so pick the quietest.
Break the sheet wall at the red flag.
Use the key on the door. The key disappears after one use.
Grab the loot and get out before other squads arrive.

What’s Inside Each Vault?

Every vault holds three Rare Chests, which often roll Epic or Legendary weapons, plus one guaranteed Sprite Chest. That makes vaults the fastest way to find strong gear and finish your Sprite collection. Chests here can also drop the Pirate Shop Access token, and your whole squad receives it.

Safest vault: Loot Lagoon’s waterfall camouflage means fewer players find it, so you’re less likely to fight for the loot after unlocking it.
Camp smart: Keyholders head to vaults, so waiting nearby lets you eliminate one and take their key.
Cannonball trick: Throwing an Explosive Cannon Ball or Shockwave Grenade at a vault wall can smash the chests without a key. You won’t get the vault loot, but destroyed chests can still drop the Pirate Shop token. As of November 3, Epic hadn’t patched it, so it may disappear.
Mind the clock: The season ends December 5 with a live event, so farm vaults now.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Planning your drop around a key. Keys are RNG, so loot chests on your normal route and see what turns up.
Walking in unprepared. Other players can see you heading to a vault, so carry healing and an exit route.
